Day 1

Libertas Spring Civics Institute 2.0 Week at a Glance

Day 1: Our Purpose. March 12, 2018

9:00-10:00- Check in, Assign Team, meet in Orchestra Room, Pre-Survey

Welcome, Purpose of Institute; Introduction of Teachers and Camp Counselors; Roadmap of Week

10:00-10:15- Break

10:15-12:00- Team Building (ice breakers geared toward sense of family culture/ camp counselors in charge) and getting to know the campus.

12:00-12:40- Lunch

12:50-12:00- Report to assigned Team Classroom

  • Team Red (Consent, Plainview, Inventory) will meet in G3020
  • Team Blue (Frisk) will meet in G3001
  • Team Silver (Searches and Mobile Doctrine) will meet in G3008
  • Team Yellow (Abandonment and Exclusionary Rule) will meet in G3017
  • Team White (Exigent Circumstances) will meet in G3006
  • Team Black will (Privacy and Chimel Rule) meet in G3019

12:00-1:25- Understanding Self Government and our Democratic Republic

1:30-2:25- Why the 4th Amendment?

2:25-2:40- Reflect on day in notebook/Why is Self-Government as practiced in our Democratic Republic important? How does this connect to the 4th Amendment?  

2:45-3:00- Survey

9:00-9:15- Welcome to day 5 and logistics for day.

9:15-10:00- Set-up Presentation Station/Practice

10:00-11:30- Community Presentations

11:30-12:00- Closing and Farewell with students

12:00- 12:30- Lunch for Teachers

12:30-1:45- Write out reflections about week (areas of need and what worked)/ Teacher Farewell

1:45-3:00- Program Coordinator closes out camp by analyzing and interpreting data/ writes our preliminary report
